Painting the Sea in Watercolor

Learn to Paint Waves, Light and Movement

15 November 2026 | 13:00–17:00

Water is one of the most fascinating — and often intimidating — subjects to paint in watercolor. In this four-hour workshop, you’ll discover that painting the sea doesn’t have to be complicated.

Together we’ll explore how watercolor naturally creates the transparency, movement and softness that make oceans so captivating. You’ll learn professional techniques step by step while creating your own finished seascape.

The workshop is limited to ten participants, allowing plenty of time for personal feedback and individual support.

What to expect

During this workshop you’ll learn how to:

  • paint realistic and expressive waves;

  • create depth and transparency in water;

  • mix harmonious ocean color palettes;

  • create movement using watercolor washes;

  • build a painting from the first sketch to the final details.

Along the way you’ll gain a deeper understanding of watercolor itself, making future landscapes much easier to paint.

Your ticket includes:

  • all professional watercolor materials;

  • individual guidance throughout the workshop;

  • a digital workbook with recommendations for watercolor materials, paper, brushes, paints, and the essential techniques covered during the class;

  • coffee, tea and light refreshments;

  • your finished watercolor painting to take home.

This workshop is perfect if you:

  • love the sea and dream of painting it;

  • already paint a little but struggle with water and waves;

  • want to build confidence with watercolor techniques;

  • enjoy spending an afternoon immersed in creativity;

  • are looking for a calm and inspiring weekend experience.

Beginners are very welcome, and participants with previous watercolor experience will also discover new techniques and approaches.
